Losing a parent is never easy. Regardless of the history one has with them. You can't live in that precipice of waiting for the next shoe to drop. You have to enjoy every moment you have with the living while you have each other. Regardless of the relationship. And when it comes to wanting to be with your friend right now - she knows it - and she feels you in her heart. Take peace in that. Blessings - LJ

A place within our hearts fear loss of a parent or anyone that is close to us. I too think we should live day to day and enjoy each breath. Easier said than done. I cannot visualize losing my mom; I love her so much although we live miles apart. She is a breast cancer survivor and I thank God every day for this. I try not to contemplate my life with out her but count my blessings, as mom is one of them. (My father too) When the time comes and our Father calls her home, I will deal with this through faith, that is the pathway back to those we love and have lost to this life. If possible, make amends with your mother, regret is a bitter pill to swallow. My thoughts are with you. Sandyz

I say as for myself I appreciate the lives of the people I experience. No attachment needed...
